Helping those less fortunate: giving back to society

Where would the world be if no one helped anyone? Face it, sometimes people need help from others. You may think that there is nothing you can do to help those that are less fortunate, but in reality, there is plenty you can do to help.

Volunteer at a shelter

Ryan Nassbridges Improvement Ryan NassbridgesA great way to give back to society and help the less fortunate is to give your time at a shelter. It doesn’t even matter what kind of shelter you volunteer; homeless, battered women and children, etc. People will appreciate you giving your time to help them get back on their feet.

Help a stranger

How many times a day do you see someone who you could have helped, yet you didn’t help him/her. Well, next time you see someone who needs help, take a few minutes out of your day and try to help him. Helping a stranger is a great way to show compassion on humanity.

Improve the city’s efforts to help

If your town or city doesn’t do enough to help the less fortunate, be the one to stand up and make a change. Sometimes a huge change starts with one person with a passion. You may have to visit every town hall meeting for a while, but your efforts will eventually pay off. Try to start a campaign and find people who are willing to help you with it.

For the most part, society is doing a good job at helping the needy and less fortunate. However, a lot of the help they receive lacks compassion. Compassion is what matters the most. If we do not have love and compassion in our hearts, we cannot effectively help the needy and less fortunate. We should all decide to adopt a heart for the homeless, the battered and the less fortunate.
